Guide to Decibels

Our client asked us to create a digital experience that would educate people on the dangers of high decibel levels and drive people to get more product information. We offered an interactive experience that allows people to see the noise level of various common tools and sounds. Next they are able to see how adding hearing protection can bring the levels down into a safe zone. It turned out to be a great educational tool that lead people down the path to trial.

FRNTPL8 – 3M Motor Vehicle Safety System's two plate microsite

FRNTPL8 is a site created to inform law enforcement officials, legislators and other interested parties about the safety of two license plates. FRNTPL8 gives general information, a state by state stature guide, news and downloadable powerpoint to help spread the importance of keeping both license plates on cars in a time that some states are trying to drop one because of budgetary worries.

Working with the development team we were able to have this off platform in order to bring responsive design elements and a little more creative freedom with html5.

3M Optical Systems Division

This relationship started with a quick microsite that 3M could use to link to at a trade show and that could include an aspirational video. It grew into a large account with tow microsites, a larger division site and offline material

QDEF microsite

3M Optical Systems Divisions makes some amazing stuff... They're an awesome client and we get to hear what light and optics technology is in the queue for TVs, laptops and other devices. We wanted this site to feel like an evolution of their larger site. Where that one dealt with light and is a little more white and airy this one deals with color so we brought in some black so color could pop.

This microsite needed to launch quickly in order to get buzz going ahead of the upcoming CES. Less than two weeks from brief to handoff to the client for development.

Optical Division Microsite

Before QDEF 3M was selling in some revolutionary technology and needed a site to instantly let manufacturers know that they own light. We decided to speak the manufacturers as consumers because really we all are. This shift is seen as we speak more about B2P (business to person) rather than B2B.

The site was incredibly well received and the client relayed her favorite compliment from an asian business partner. He said the site seemed like it was designed in Asia, not the US. He meant that as a great compliment.

We moved to a larger site where we wanted to broaden the target to add early adopters as well. Once complete our client said this brought her to tears.

A fantastically collaborative project.

Target Redesign Your School

Target worked with Great Schools By Design (American Architectural Foundation) on a scholarship program aimed at high school juniors and seniors.

The design concept actually came to me six months before we got the project. While at a photo shoot the day after the last day of school I snapped a photo of a student's doodles on his book cover. I knew I wanted to use it in the future.

Then the project came along. We hunted down the best illustrator to match the style and found Serge Seidlitz. He was fantastic to work not just because of his English accent.

This scholarship contest received many more entries than were expected and the American Architectural Foundation was incredibly pleased and impressed with the launch of this program.

Another fun project to be a part of...

Fashion by George Microsite

Walmart Canada was relaunching a clothing brand called George. We wanted to create a really simple and usable site that would allow customers to see the details and almost feel the materials of the clothing and entice them to go to the store to buy. The drive was to stores as Walmart Canada was not selling this clothing line online.

Flakeover

What do you do when you sell in an idea to a client and they don't buy it? You make it into your holiday card.

At JWT we were trying to grab some digital work from a traditional client and sold in this idea of a digital Wooly Willy game. We did a quick prototype so the workings of the flash piece was ready to go. We reskinned it into a holiday card.

We wanted to bring the feeling of a Minnesota cabin to our clients and friends while allowing them to create and share a customized photo.

I wish I could embed video of it here but the file is lost. However you can see it on Behance.

3M Tekk Protection website

The old website for 3M Tekk Protection offered little product information which was a huge miss in this category. People really need to learn why protection is important and that it's necessary to make it an everyday part of their DIY activities. We set out to create a rich site that offered up great information, easy paths to products and that brought the new tools we created (decibel tool, lens selector and product selector) to the forefront.

AARP Health website

Original Concept

Final Site

Working with UnitedHealthcare we were asked to create a site for AARP Health. This site was focused on giving seniors information on health, healthcare and medicare with an end goal of them signing up for AARP Medicare.

The original concept was pretty fun to concept and design. We wanted to take a fresh very customer lead approach to the UX/UI. The concept tested well. It was built and in product testing but a new client came and wanted something more traditional.

So we whipped this one together quite quickly but it please the team from AARP, UnitedHealthcare and our internal team. We never got numbers but we told it was quite successful and it tested well for usability.
